What types of sessions do you offer remotely?
BodyTalk, EmRes®, PSYCH-K®, Veltheim Method Lymphatic Drainage, Reiki, Yoga, Pilates, and Herbal formula recommendations.
Wow! That's a lot of different offerings. Some I have never heard of...Where should I start?
We can figure that out together! When you tell me a brief summary of where you are at and what you would like to accomplish, we can discuss what makes the most sense. Usually, I recommend BodyTalk to start as other modalities can come up during a session if it is appropriate. In that case, a separate session for the other modality may be scheduled.
Where are you located?
Most of the sessions are done remotely via a zoom type call or phone. Email, text and written/audio summary are also options. If you are in the Dana Point area, acupuncture and pilates sessions are in person.
What do I wear?
You can wear whatever works for you and for the session. If something specific is needed, I will let you know.
Anything I should not do before or after my appointment?
Depends on the service...If having acupuncture, reiki, lymphatic drainage, yoga class, I advise no caffeine before your treatment so you can more easily relax during the session. It is also good not to come hungry as you need some energy to move energy, and to be able relax and not think about food. On this note though, please also do not come feeling full as this may be uncomfortable since you will being lying down. Arrive somewhere in the middle; have a light snack or come after a couple hours of eating a full meal.
If you had cupping done during your session, you may find it useful to keep the area covered for the day as your pores are open there and more sensitive to temperature changes and wind.
Does acupuncture hurt?
The majority of people find acupuncture extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. The needles are the size of 2 hair widths = super duper small. Most you won't feel at all, a few you might feel a slight little pinch for a second which will lessen within a few seconds. A dull ache can happen in an area of the body during the session and is normal as the energy/qi is building there and then will balance out. As you are resting with the needles, you may notice different sensations or tingles in the body. This is normal and actually quite pleasant to observe.
Do you take insurance?
BodyTalk, EmRes®, PSYCH-K®, Reiki, Yoga, Pilates, and Lymphatic Drainage are holistic wellness services that are not currently covered by insurance plans. Many clients find these modalities to be valuable complements to their overall health and well-being, supporting relaxation, resilience, movement, balance, and personal growth.
For acupuncture, I am not in-network with any insurance companies. Insurance coverage for acupuncture can be a bit complicated, as every plan has different rules and limitations.
Many insurance plans only cover acupuncture for specific diagnoses, such as back pain, and most require treatments to be considered “medically necessary.” Unfortunately, this often means symptoms need to be moderate to severe and significantly impacting your quality of life before coverage applies.
One of the things I love about acupuncture is that it can support so much more than what insurance typically covers. It can be incredibly helpful for prevention, stress management, overall wellness, and addressing imbalances before they develop into larger concerns. However, preventive care and early intervention are rarely covered benefits.
Some insurance plans do offer coverage for fertility support and other conditions, but coverage varies widely, so it’s best to check directly with your insurance provider regarding your specific plan.
If you have an FSA or HSA account, those funds can often be used for medically necessary acupuncture treatments. Some plans may allow acupuncture for broader wellness purposes, so it’s worth confirming the details of your individual benefits.
