What services do you offer remotely?
BodyTalk, EmRes, PSYCH-K®, Veltheim Method Lymphatic Drainage, Reiki, Yoga, and Herbal formula recommendations.
Wow! That's a lot of different offerings. Some I have never heard of...Where should I start?
We can figure that out together! When you tell me a brief summary of where you are at and what you would like to accomplish, we can discuss what makes the most sense. Feel free to reach out anytime. Text me at 949-919-5438 or email lisa@monarchpointwellness, and we can go from there.
Where are you located?
Most of my treatments are done remotely via a zoom type call. I can also do them via phone, email, or audio summary. Under certain circumstances, in-person sessions may be made available.
What do I wear?
You can wear whatever works for you. It is best to wear loose fitting and comfortable clothes.
Anything I should not do before or after my appointment?
Depends on the service...If having acupuncture, reiki, lymphatic drainage, yoga class, I advise no caffeine before your treatment so you can more easily relax during the session. It is also good not to come hungry as you need some energy to move energy, and to be able relax and not think about food. On this note though, please also do not come feeling full as this may be uncomfortable since you will being lying down. Arrive somewhere in the middle; have a light snack or come after a couple hours of eating a full meal.
If you had cupping done during your session, you may find it useful to keep the area covered for the day as your pores are open there and more sensitive to temperature changes and wind.
Does acupuncture hurt?
The majority of people find acupuncture extremely relaxing and rejuvenating. The needles are the size of 2 hair widths, so are super small. Most you won't feel at all, a few you might feel a slight little pinch for a second which will lessen within a few seconds. A dull ache can happen in an area of the body during the session and is normal as the energy/qi is building there and then will balance out. As you are resting with the needles, you may notice different sensations or tingles in the body. This is normal and actually quite pleasant to observe.
Do you take insurance?
BodyTalk, EmRes, PSYCH-K®, Reiki, Yoga, Pilates, and Lymphatic Drainage are not covered by insurance.
For acupuncture, I am not in-network with any insurance companies. There are a lot of caveats to insurance. Some plans are very strict on their coverage with only specific diagnosis covered (like back pain) and the majority of plans require the sessions to be "medically necessary." Acupuncture can do so much more to benefit you than what insurance will cover, and it is great at prevention which is rarely covered. Unfortunately, most insurance wants you to get to the point where you have moderate to severe symptoms of pain (usually) that are affecting your quality of life in order to be considered "medically necessary." They do not value prevention, addressing symptoms early on, or all the many other ways besides pain that acupuncture can benefit. Some plans are covering acupuncture for fertility support, but that is something you will need to check case-by-case.
Your FSA/HSA card may be used for "medically necessary" acupuncture treatments unless you have a special plan that allows acupuncture for any reason.
